PROJECT AIM

The project aims to develop at least 1000 hectares of irrigable land for rice production and establish an agro-processing facility targeting local & export markets.

The project is developing a Rice irrigation scheme on 1000Ha that will pump water from Lake Malawi and a Rice processing factory with capacity to process 50MT of Rice per day in Karonga district.

The project is aimed at producing and processing Rice for the local and export markets, thereby contributing to the economic development of Malawi and improving livelihoods and wealth for the people of Karonga in particular and the country at large.

The project started in 2022 and a total of 14,000 people are expected to benefit from this project including farmers and traders.
